Buttercross Restaurant
Poundbury, Dorchester 2008
The Buttercross Restaurant is a landmark building at the heart of the Poundbury South West Quadrant.
The large double-height building forms a focal point to the Buttermarket Square which is one of the nodal public spaces within the Poundbury Masterplan.
The Buttercross will be constructed in brick and Portland stone with a lead roof and a generous cast iron verandah at the ground floor. The building provides ground and gallery floor restaurant seating and in the summer tables will be placed on a dining terrace in the square. Kitchens and services are located within a large basement.
Construction is due to commence in 2010.
