Jubilee Court

Poundbury, Dorchester 2003

Jubilee Court occupies an important site on the Bridport Road in Phase 2 of Poundbury.

The scheme consists of a series of commercial buildings, flats and houses built around a landscaped courtyard, which provides both car parking and gardens for the residents. The prominent corner site is occupied by a 4 storey tower with ground floor retail space. An earlier scheme for a higher density group of buildings was redesigned following consultation with local residents.

The design draws from local market towns, with particular reference to the centres of Dorchester, Blandford Forum and Bridport.

The brick and stone buildings are intended to suggest incremental development over time and draw details from earlier and late Georgian buildings in Dorchester town centre.
