Newquay Growth Area

Cornwall 2007

The Newquay Growth Area is a 100 hectare site to the east of Newquay majority owned by The Duchy of Cornwall. It has been earmarked for development by the local authority as a way of meeting the future local housing, business, educational and health needs in a sustainable way.

Following a major Enquiry by Design held in 2004 by The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, Leon Krier drew up the masterplan for the Growth Area. In 2007 we were appointed to take forward, with Leon Krier, the outline planning application for the first Phase of the Growth Area, containing some 360 dwellings plus a care home and a mix of other uses including retail and office accommodation.

The site has outline planning approval and in 2010 we will be commencing detailed designs for the site, in collaboration with Robert Adam Architects and The Prince’s Foundation.
