Sherford

Devon 2005

The Sherford New Community is the sustainable urban extension to Plymouth. It is being masterplanned by Paul Murrain and The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.

The site lies in the sensitive South Hams area of South Devon, with its well known small towns such as Totnes, Modbury and Dartmouth. We wrote the South Hams Pattern Book for the Prince’s Foundation in the lead up to the first Sherford design workshop.

We have had a particular role to visualise the emerging urban design proposals and to establish patterns of architectural and urban character across the substantial site.  

Ben Pentreath wrote a chapter of the Sherford Design Code and has subsequently worked on a book of house plans for the development with lead architects, ESHA.

In 2009 Sherford received outline planning consent.
