Poundbury SW Quadrant

Dorchester, Dorset 2007

The South West Quadrant, a mixed used development of some 250 dwellings, will complete Phase 2 of Poundbury.  

Working Group was the co-ordinating architectural designer for the site, preparing a detailed masterplan and working with three other architects, Craig Hamilton, Jonathan Holland and George Saumarez Smith.

In addition we designed some 100 buildings in the scheme. We adopted a restrained classical architectural language that draws closely on late 18th and early 19th century exemplars in Dorchester and surrounding towns. Particular care has been taken to detail door surrounds, eaves details, stonework and metalwork.

Construction on the houses began in Spring 2009 and the site will be complete in 2012.
